About Us

Project Laut stands as a distinguished marine conservation organization, partnering with Nomads Diving Penida in the ecologically rich waters of Nusa Penida.

As a certified Extended Range (XR) SSI Training Center, we offer an extensive range of diving experiences, suited for those aiming to go beyond conventional limits.

Our location boasts some of the healthiest coral reef systems in the world, inhabited by majestic manta rays, diverse sea turtle populations, and the elusive mola molas, making it a diver’s paradise.

Our commitment extends beyond conservation; we aim to create skilled, knowledgeable divers who can contribute significantly to protecting and understanding these incredible marine ecosystems.

Conservation Initiatives

Coral Restoration with GoOceans

Engage in our significant coral restoration project in collaboration with GoOceans. Be a part of deploying 1000 ‘spider’ structures over the next two years, contributing to the cultivation of approximately 18,000 coral fragments. As part of this initiative, we employ advanced techniques using Agisoft Metashape to create detailed orthographic maps and 3D renderings of our coral restoration sites. Interns will gain hands-on experience in these cutting-edge mapping techniques, understanding how technology aids in monitoring and enhancing coral restoration efforts. Hawksbill Turtle Identification and Monitoring

Engage in our sea turtle population ecology study through non-invasive photo-identification methods. We collect images of the unique scute patterns on the turtles’ heads, and use our specialized pattern recognition software to identify individual turtles and track movement & behaviours. Currently we have over 300 individuals identified, and over 1200 logged encounters.

Dive Training Pathways

  1. Zero-to-Hero (14 weeks): For candidates with no prior diving experience, leading to Divemaster certification.
  2. Advanced Program (12 weeks): For Open Water certified divers, progressing to Divemaster.
  3. Rescuer Program (10 weeks): For Advanced Open Water divers, culminating in Divemaster.
  4. Divemaster Program (8 weeks): For Rescue certified divers, focusing on conservation and leadership, ending with Divemaster certification.
  • Instructor Courses Post-Divemaster: For ambitious divers who complete our Divemaster program and seek to further their diving education, we offer instructor courses. These courses provide the essential skills and qualifications needed to teach and inspire the next generation of divers.
  • Extended Range (XR) Training: As a certified XR Training Center, Project Laut provides specialized technical diving courses for those looking to explore beyond conventional limits. Our extended range training includes:
    • Sidemount Diving: Learn the techniques and benefits of sidemount configurations, offering flexibility and streamlined diving.
    • Decompression Techniques: Gain expertise in planning and conducting decompression dives, essential for deeper and longer dive explorations.
    • Advanced Nitrox: Enhance your understanding and skills in using enriched air nitrox for extended bottom times and safer decompression.

These advanced training opportunities enable you to experience challenging dive sites and unique underwater environments, furthering your diving capabilities and knowledge.
